My 6 incredible weeks interning at MTS Health Limited, under Sodexo, has truly flown by!
Going into this internship, I had thought that my role would only revolve around ‘fixing and maintaining medical devices’. However, the scope of my position quickly morphed and grew as all members of the MTS staff went above-and-beyond to also teach me about the governance, procurement, advisory and operational sides of the medical technology management industry.
I am grateful to have participated in projects, office-based activities, and off-site events. Such as the EBME Expo, on-site and field-based medical device maintenance and repairs, KPI extractions, hospital advisory and consultancy meetings, and research and data collection assignments. The sheer amount of activities that I participated in during my internship were both exciting and intellectually stimulating. In turn allowing me to gain invaluable experience in the management of clinical technology through maintenance, operational and advisory services.
The MTS healthcare team was an amazing group to be a part of, and therefore, I would like to extend a few special thanks. Thank you, Stuart Norris (MSc), for being a remarkable supervisor, who was always eager to teach me about KPI implementation for ensuring positive yearly work outcomes.
Thank you, John Sandham, for working alongside Stuart Norris to help me put my project in motion. Your input opened new avenues of research to evaluate, in turn giving me innovative outlooks for my report.
Thank you also to Caroline Finlay, Ruth Strickland, Fiona W., Kay Elhammali (nee Clayton), Nicola Parkes, Alison Owen, and Alexis Hage for teaching me about critical facets of this industry, while always making me feel welcomed in the office.
The list of people to mention can truly extend forever; acting as a testament to the great people that work here. I am looking forward to staying in touch and seeing you all again soon!
